NDO - The Association of Vietnamese in Bangkok hosted a get-together to celebrate the Lunar New Year festival (Tet) with the participation of over 500 overseas Vietnamese.


Speaking at the meeting, Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Nguyen Tat Thanh spoke highly of contributions made by the Vietnamese community to enhancing the bilateral friendship as well as to Vietnam’s national construction and defence cause.


He also called on the Vietnamese community in Thailand to promote solidarity and to continue learning Vietnamese language as a way to preserve their identity and traditional culture.


The Ambassador also briefed the Overseas Vietnamese community on the progress of the 12th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam which is currently underway in Hanoi.


The diplomat highlighted the developing solidarity, friendship and co-operation between Vietnam and Thailand, affirming that numerous activities will be held in 2016 to mark the 40th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic ties.


On the occasion, Vietnamese expatriates were treated to traditional dishes and arts performances.


The celebration of Tet is a regular activity of the Association of Vietnamese in Bangkok, creating a chance for Vietnamese expatriates living in Thailand to meet and exchange, thus promoting links and connections among the community.​
