June 2017 (NNT) – The Ambassador of Vietnam to Thailand made a courtesy call to
the Prime Minister upon the end of his posting in Bangkok.
Government Spokesman Lt Weerachon Sukondhapatipak said Vietnamese Ambassador
Nguyen Tat Thanh called on Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha at Government House
due to the completion of his term in Thailand.
premier said he was delighted to meet with the outgoing Vietnamese envoy and
thanked for cooperation with the Vietnamese Embassy while the Vietnamese envoy
said his three years in Thailand made him feel like home, and thanked the Thai
government for cooperating with Vietnam on security, trade, investment, labour,
education, and tourism affairs.
premier said Thailand and Vietnam have enjoyed close relations with frequent
meeting between the Prime Ministers of two countries, saying that the relations
of both countries have matured into the best stage. The Thai PM had also
praised the goodwill of the Vietnamese PM towards Thai government and Thailand,
which will provide all the support for the upcoming APEC meetings in Vietnam
his invitation for the Vietnamese premier to pay an official visit to Thailand
during the time Thailand hosts the Thailand - Vietnam Joint Commission on
Bilateral Cooperation (JBCB). The exact date for the JCBC meeting and
Vietnamese PM visit will be determined accordingly.
premier and Vietnamese ambassador also discussed the cooperation to combat
illegal fishing, while the envoy thanked Thailand for not using firearms with
Vietnamese fishing boats which had illegally infringed upon the Thai waters.
The premier suggested both sides work together to prevent border disputes and
promote the connectivity between Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and
countries had also agreed to hold close discussion on the Mekong River
cooperation issue. The premier called for Vietnamese workers to legally
register themselves in order to receive legal protection and welfare.
