​Visa:

      Travellers to Vietnam, for all purposes (tourism, business, study, visiting relatives, volunteering...) need to obtain a valid visa before travelling (except citizens of a number of countries that are exempt from visas to Viet Nam with certain conditions, please refer to the list below). There is no visa requirement if you transit through a Vietnamese international airport and stay in the transit area only.

      ​​Visas on arrival may only be granted in emergency situations (for example, if applicants depart from a country where there is no Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate-General, or travel through several countries before arriving in Vietnam; or enter Viet Nam for humanitarian purposes) and not designed for regular visitors . Abuse of the facility may lead to penalty and denial of entry".    

      Visa fees vary, depending on a number of factors such as length of stay, number of entries, types of visa, availability of pre-arrival approval letter. Please note that the visa application fee covers all entry fees (i.e. no additional fee payable upon arrival) and is non-refundable.

     Applicants may ask someone else to apply on their behalf (no Power of Attorney is required). 

     1. Business visa (to work with V​ietnamese businesses):

     Documents to be submitted:

     -  Passport that is valid for at least 6 months since the date of entry to Viet Nam;

     - A visa approval issued by the Immigration department of Vietnam;

     - Visa application form (Download here: VN VISA APPLICATION FORM (1).doc)

     - 1 photo 4x6 cm.

      Normal processing time for business visa is 3 working days.

      2. Tourist visa:

      If you are not on the List of Visa Exemption to Vietnam ( For updated information, please refer to the following website: https://lanhsuvietnam.gov.vn/Lists/BaiViet/B%C3%A0i%20vi%E1%BA%BFt/DispForm.aspx?List=dc7c7d75-6a32-4215-afeb-47d4bee70eee&ID=306), please follow the following steps to apply for a tourist visa.

​Viet Nam's electronic visa (or e-visa, labeled as EV) shall be applied for citizens of all countries and territories

On August 14, 2023, the Government of Viet Nam issued Resolution No.127/NQ-CP on the application of electronic visas for citizens of countries and territories; international checkpoints allowing foreigners to enter and exit by electronic visas. Accordingly, the Government granted issueing electronic visas to citizens of all countries and territories.

List of international border gates that allow foreigners to enter and exit by electronic visas includes:

​This Resolution takes effect from August, 15, 2023, replacing Resolution No.79/NQ-CP dated May 25, 2020 and Resolution No.60/NQ-CP dated April 27, 2022.

The duration of Viet Nam's electronic vissa is lengthened, from mazimum of 30 days with single entry, to maximum of 90 days with single or multiple entry(ies).

According to Article 2 of the Law amending and supplementing the Law on Entry and Exit of VietNamese Citizens and the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit and Residence of Foreigners in Viet Nam, from August 15, 2023 the term of electronic visa (or e-visa, labeled as "EV") is lengthened, from mazimum of 30 days with single entry, to maximum of 90 days with single or multiple entry(ies).

  • 3. Visa for minor applicants:​
  • The applicant must travel with at least one parent or legal guardian.
  • - In addition to the above requirement, the following certification is needed:
  • An authorization letter to travel for Minors (The form is not compulsory, but will speed up your passage through border controls) signed by both parents or legal guardians.
  • Original birth certificate and copy, or only a notarized copy (All foreign documents, if not in English, should be translated into English or Vietnamese).
  • Copies of photo-ID/passport of both parents and legal guardians, in the event that the mother's last name differs from what appears on the applicant's birth certificate, please provide a copy of parents' marriage certificate.​

        4. Visas for diplomatic and service/or official passport holders: Please directly contact the Consular Section of the Embassy before coming to the Embassy.​

       5. Visas for investors, journalists/reporters and those who wish to enter Viet Nam to: i) work with Vietnamese agencies/institutions, ii) study, iii) participate in meetings/conferences, iv) work, V) visit relatives:

       Documents to be submitted include:

      + Passport that is valid for at least 6 months since the date of entry to Viet Nam;

      + A visa approval issued by the Immigration Department of Vietnam (please request your host company/agency to contact the Immigration Department of Viet Nam). For a journalist visa, the applicant needs to contact the Foreign Press Centre under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam. The Foreign Press Centre's website is:

      + One photo sized 4x6 cm.

       The processing time for a  Business/Working/Study/Volunteering/Press visa application is 03 working days.

Important notice: After obtaining a visa, please check details in your visa to make sure they are in conformity with details in your passport and your application form: Your name in full; Validity of your visa (Date of entry/exit, single/multiple entries); Signature of visa issuer; Stamp of the Embassy. If any of the above information is incorrect or absent, please notify us immediately within three working days for free-of-charge correction. We reserves our right to add service charges if no notification about incorrect information was made within three working days since the date of visa issuance or if the error was resulted from your application.
